Access and Inclusion
Access and Inclusion Lessons
Swimming can be fantastic for children with special needs! Access and Inclusion is a program designed for children from one year of age through to adults with special needs.
The program is designed to assist students to build greater muscle strength and physical endurance. It also helps with increased flexibility, more self-control and water safety.
Lesson Structure
Group swimming lessons are ideal for the development of each student’s social skills. We aim to have a maximum of three children in each class with a qualified instructor.
Where possible, we also try to group the students in lessons with similar disabilities, which is an excellent way for students to participate in an experience with their friends or to make new ones.
Children with Special Needs
Children with special needs can sometimes be overconfident around water as they can lack an understanding of the dangers surrounding water environments.
These swimming lessons can provide essential skills to assist in minimising these dangers and are conducted whereever possible as a group lesson structure.
Swimming is a great leveller and can help children with special needs have fun in a non-competitive environment.
